With plenty of opportunities for picture taking, this outdoor workshop challenges the student to think and shoot beyond the camera's suggested 'correct' exposures. Students will be lead through their camera's semi-automatic and manual shooting modes with the goals of understanding and then realizing the creative possibilities waiting for them. With the likelihood of capturing over 400 images throughout the walk, students will have the chance to begin developing their own shooting style and artistic flair while facing a number of different urban photographic scenarios.
Course Outline:
- Making extensive use of creative shooting modes (aperture & shutter priority modes)
- Exploring various creative uses of depth of field
- Exploring the creative, yet controlled use of motion blur
- Learning photojournalistic approaches and methods for telling stories with images
- Selecting the right lens to achieve the ideal composition
- Creative use of available light for artistic effect
Who Should Attend?
This workshop provides an ideal opportunity for aspiring photographers to learn how to think and shoot creatively. Students wishing to discover and learn the possibilities beyond the 'automatic norm' will thoroughly enjoy participating in this seasonal event workshop. Attending participants should have a basic understanding of the camera and menu system.
What To Bring To Class:
- Your camera
- A fully charged battery (or two)
- Enough memory to store more than 400 images
- A set of lenses covering both wide angle and telephoto ranges (or a single lens with an 'all-in-one' focal length range - ex: 18mm-200mm)
- An external flash (if available)
- Accessories such as filters & a tripod (if available)
MEETING LOCATION INFO:
The meeting point for this workshop will be at our Church Street entrance of our Henry's Toronto store location. Instructor Daniel Garcia will lead you through a route in the downtown core that will give you numerous photographic opportunities. Take in the urban feel, the architecture and city parks as you make your way through the streets of one of Canada's busiest urban centres.
