  • Excellant for taking the leap from point and shoot

Like everyone, I've had my share of point and shoot digital cameras. Each new iteration included more and more of the creative controls /features normally found on DSLR's. But not knowing how to use any of those controls, I usually picked Automatic or a Scene mode. I've always wanted to take the step to DSLR but I feared that without the knowledge, my shots would get worse, not better. This course teaches you everything you need to know to gain control over your photos. I learned a great deal of very useful information that I was able to apply immediately with excellent results. I took a 2 week trip to Italy and fired off 3000+ shots, using a very useful feature "bracketing". This literally saved my bacon. I also learned how to maximize the light coming into the camera so I could take low light photos in museums and churches where flashbulbs are either discouraged or prohibited. Terms like White Balance, Aperature, ISO, Diopter and Exposure compensation are no longer a mystery. I saw alot of people in Italy with $5000 camera's firing flashes in Museums, and also banging their glasses into their viewfinders ! Too bad they didn't take this Henry's course !!

  • An excellent foundation

This course provides a solid foundation for ANY photographer, be they digital or film. As per the course description, it covers ISO, aperture, shutter speeds and depth of field but, more importantly, it ties them all together and teaches you how they affect one another, ultimately giving you far greater creative control over your pictures. With the instructor being a professional photographer we picked up useful insights and tips for various situations. I highly recommend this course! One recommendation: You will get more from this course if you are already familiar with the basic controls on your camera. Consider taking one of the camera specific courses first if needed!
